2022 Wedding trends you need to know!

If you are planning a wedding you NEED to read this! Before you set pen to paper and wade through that checklist you may be pleasantly surprised that the latest trends in New Zealand weddings are all rather simple!

Here are the top 10 trends for 2022 as predicted by the top local and global wedding media:

1. MICRO WEDDINGS:

Micro weddings are all to do with scale – a small, intimate style, with a guest and family focus. It’s the simple things that matter. With fewer guests, comes less work, and the smaller the guest count, the more creative you can be. You can now host ceremonies at unique places that typically could not host a larger crowd. Consider scenic and beautiful locations that were out of the question for hundreds of guests, but are now perfect for your party of 20

2. ‘I DO’ RIGHT NOW!

The brand new wedding trend of 2022 has to be ‘wed now party later’. Fueled by fluctuating covid event restrictions this modern concept will have couples saying their vows to become husband and wife pretty soon then holding a date in the future to party away with larger groups of family and friends.

3. THE DÉCOR

Bountiful florals and greenery, large feature floral pieces such as a hanging installation or large sweeping ceremony florals that can be moved and re-purposed for the reception.

Go big, go natural – but multipurpose!

One of the clear wedding trends for 2022 is the inclusion of luscious greenery. Tables dressed with cascades of foliage or ceremony arches displaying masses of leaves and greenery on show are the go to for sophisticated wedding adornment.

4. GOING SUSTAINABLE / ECO WEDDINGS

Instead of decor which expires, such as candles or flowers, hanging (reusable) lanterns, string lights, LED signs, or even chandeliers can be used for décor.

Choose a venue that has great views or surround windows – let the nature views be the main feature like at The Gallery, Parihoa farm.

5. FRESH AIR

S'mores under the stars, the sea breeze filtering through the first course, as well as on-site concierges to help with exploration activities are just a few benefits to choosing an outdoor wedding weekend. Take advantage of the smaller guest list and consider scenic and beautiful locations that were out of the question for 100 guests, but are now perfect for your party of 20.
